Resumen:
A fin de conocer los cambios nutricionales antropométricos y el consumo de energía y nutrientes, se estudió un grupo de 105 niños entre 1 y 7 años de edad, de una zona suburbana de Valencia, Estado Carabobo, entre 1995-1996. En ambos períodos la prevalencia de desnutrición fue del 10,5%, se incrementó la talla baja de 7,2% a 15,2%, disminuyó el sobrepeso de 24,8% a 7,6% y baja ganancia de peso y talla (53,4% y 12,4%). Del análisis de canalización el 63,6% de desnutridos se mantuvo igual, 18,4% de los normales sé descanalizaron a talla baja y desnutrición, 76,9% con sobrepeso pasó a normal. Hubo disminución significativa del consumo de calorías, grasas, carbohidratos, y de adecuación de energía y proteínas. Se concluye que la población estudiada desmejoró nutricionalmente debido a un incremento del porcentaje de niños con talla baja, baja velocidad de peso y disminución significativa del consumo de energía y nutrientes. Nutritional status in children 1 to 7 years old in a suburban community of Valencia
Abstract:
Changes in nutritional anthropometric parameters, energy and nutrient consumption variables, were investigated in a group of 105 children between 1 and 7 years of age, in a suburban area of Valencia, increase of lowers height (7,2% to 15,2%), decrease of the overweight (24,8% to 7,6%) and low gain of weight and it carves (53,4% and 12,4%). In the canalization analysis 63,6% of undernourished stayed the same , 18,4% of the normal went to a lower level and 76,9% with overweight became normal. There was a significant decrease of the consumption of calories, fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. We conclude that the studied population deteriorated nutritionally as shown in the increment of the percentage of children with sihort stature, low weight gain and decrease in the consumption of the energy and nutrients.
